This is the story of Samir (Aftab Shivdasani) - a successful fashion designer, and of a young girl - Muskaan (our very own Gracy) who is struggling to make both ends meet. She thinks she can face the world alone till one day… that's the mystery element.

The two become 'phone friends' when Samir dials a wrong number. This leads to a series of conversations until Ms. Wrong number and Prince Charming discover that they are made for each other.

Yet Janvi - one of Samir workmates is also infatuated with him, although to him she is just a good friend. Unrequited love! While love is playing its game, there comes a mysterious man. Soon the action shifts to Shimla. Further excitement is provided by a murder, with one of the prime suspects being Samir. As usual the motive for Janvi's murder is unknown. 'Muskaan' starts with a soft, fresh look, but soon settles down into a "who-dun-it". But, this does not cause the film to deviate too much from its romantic track. Not much time is wasted in tracking down the murderer and it's back to the love story. All's well that ends well although there are a few loose ends in the film.

As usual Gracy acts her part in the movie with ease, plus it is also quite refreshing to see her in a more glamourous role, finally. But then again Gracy has always been beautiful - both in her acting and with her looks. "I want to sing and dance now" she says. "Just what I want to do at this stage".

Unfortunately Muskaan was not a hit at the box office, but it did serve Gracy's original purpose for which she had signed the film. And that came just after Lagaan, when for some reason people had unfairly tagged her for being suitable for only "gaon ki gori" type roles. Gracy's glamourous look in Muskaan and her ability to play a variety of versatile characters since will now put that myth to rest.

Also consider that Muskaan's release was delayed for a long time, since production ended, and in between classy movies such as Armaan and Munnabhai MBBS were released. Gracy says, "All this while I was focussed on doing films with well-known names. Now I want to act with the younger lot of actors. After Lagaan, it was tough choosing projects". (Muskaan was one of them.) "Lagaan was up there and nothing else would match it".
