Once the winners stepped out of the spotlight, they dimmed and a bevy of dancers whirled in with Gracy Singh charming us with her Lagaan favourite, 'Radha kaise na jale'. Gracy candidly confessed that she'd worked much harder on this dance this time around than when she had performed it in the film. All the long hours of rehearsal paid off and when Gracy walked around asking everyone with childlike simplicity, "Did you like my dance?" The compliments just poured in with natural ease. Aamir's discovered a rare gem in the Amaanat girl and our jury applauded his choice of heroine by singling her out of the crowd of promising talents as the Most Promising Debut Of The Year. The award was presented to her by Sunil Shetty and Shabana Azmi. Shabana joked about how she was getting to be a veteran when it came to presenting debut awards. But there is no one better than this actress, activist and Rajya Sabha member to present the perfect role model to new entrants to show business.

Ganesh had decided to portray the song in the form of raas-leela and thus the steps were based on Bharat Natyam and Gracy was to portray Radha while her guru was Krishna. A sweating Gracy Singh was seen practising the difficult steps, swirling round and round to the beat. She would stop for a breather only to be back in a jiffy for the next step.

"Being a trained classical dancer, it always excites me to perform live on stage. Words can't describe the effect of the rapport which an artiste develops with the audience through a well-defined performance. So, I was thrilled to bits when I was asked to do an item for the prestigious Screen award as I yearned to perform 'Madhuban mein...' on stage. I'm really looking forward to the awards night as during the shooting we get a hundred takes to perfect our act, but on stage everthing has to proceed smoothly. I'm just hoping that everything should go off well without a hitch and I should be able to please the audience with my efforts," Gracy trailed off.
